CCCB67

♥♥♥♥♥♥

I have been seriously busy busy busy, and haven't gotten around to my favorite challenges sites as often as I have wanted in the past couple of weeks.  I sent Tracy a pic of my craft table, and she so kindly said it wasn't the worst she has ever seen.  But I am sure she is just being her kind self !!

and of course, that is only 1/4 of the room.

Soooo, today's entry is going to City Crafter where they have this gorgeous picture

and a vintage garden theme !!

I am reading a book about Chinese immigrants, and came across a Welcome Blessing,
Happiness is coming through the gate.

How many wonderful things that could mean.

Here is my take on the photo, and the theme.

Hope your happiness is coming through the gate too !

Papercraft Star 55

This week's challenge at Papercraft Star is one everyone always enjoys !!

Anything goes !!

Well my BF's youngest son got married on Saturday, so I made a wedding card for him and his gorgeous bride.  I have never seen a groom so happy - and calm !

The wedding was a black and white one, and so I bought myself a darling black and white patterned jacket.  Horrors - when I arrived I saw that I matched the table linens perfectly !!  Now, 2 of the same dresses at a gathering, ok, but matching the linens ??  Not quite my most embarrassing moment, but way up there !!

While the wedding was quite traditional, I chose to make a card that totally wasn't !

And here is the inside.  The pocket held a tag with our names on it, and a check.  The tag was made from one of The House Across the Bay's pastel digitals, to which I added two stamped corner flourishes.  It was truly one of a kind !!

Why not join us this week at Papercraft Star - what a fun and easy challenge !!

Papercraft Star DT Call

♥♥♥♥♥♥

Hey everyone !

We are in need of a couple new designers at Papercraft Star, and maybe one of those is YOU !!

Like Tracy said, we aren't necessarily looking for mega talent, but what we really need is commitment.  Have a look at this:

We are looking for two new DT members.  We don’t require that you be an artist extraordinaire or have a zillion followers.  Those things are nice of course, but what we’re really looking for is someone who will be a committed member of this team.  The secret to a well run DT is the commitment of each team member to fulfill their obligations as part of the team.  When everyone does their part, everything will run smooth as silk.
Of course we want being a part of our team to be a fun experience, but there are some things that we are looking for in our new DT members that are necessary to keep our team solid and well balanced.  These may sound like stuffy old rules, but each and every one is a very integral and important part of building a great challenge blog Design Team.  So here’s what we need:
  1. Someone who loves crafting, being part of a team, and inspiring and encouraging others.
  2. Although we don’t expect perfection, we do want to see quality work that will inspire our challenge participants
  3. You must have a blog and be able to post well photographed projects (complete with supply lists) to promote the Papercraft Star weekly challenge
  4. You must be 18 years of age or older and live in the United States/Canada.  International applicants will be considered for Guest Designer positions so we encourage you to apply.
  5. You must be able to commit to a six month term on the team beginning September 1, 2011 and ending February 29, 2012
  6. You must read the Papercraft Star Design Team Guidelines and be prepared to follow them as set forth
  7. If selected you will be required to complete one challenge based assignment per week using product supplied by our sponsor, The House Across the Bay (please visit THATB etsy shop and check out the resources you will be required to work with).  You would also be expected to participate in any scheduled blog hops or special postings.

So what’s in this for you?

  1. You’ll be part of a wonderfully supportive group of crafting ladies
  2. Exposure for your own blog
  3. Free product from our sponsor (please understand that the product is in digital form and CANNOT be shared.  It is for your personal use only.  Sharing digital files is illegal!)

If you would like to be a part of our growing team of fabulous crafters, please send the following to papercraftstar@yahoo.com (please use “Design Team Call” as your subject) and include:

  1.       Full name, address, phone number and email address.
  2.       A link to your personal blog, a link to your YouTube channel (if  applicable), and links to your online galleries (if applicable).
  3.       Design teams, if any, that you work on now or have worked on in      the  past.
  4.       Photos of three papercraft projects that represent both your style and your best work.
  5.       Read the Design Team Guidelines and determine if you are willing to comply with the these requirements.
  6.       Write a short paragraph about yourself telling us why you think you'll be a good fit for the Papercraft Star Design Team. Please also let us know that you read the Design Team Guidelines.
  7.       Become a follower of Papercraft Star (if you are not already).
  8.       Complete and email with your application a project created for Challenge 60 on the challenges page of the Papercraft Star Challenge blog - (this will be your first Design Team reveal if selected for the Team). The challenge: Steampunk—use something metal or go for the full fledged steampunk look

Submission deadline is August 4, 2011.  We will announce our Design Team members before the end of the month.

We have a lot of fun with our team, and we have gotten to be such great friends with one another !  Ok, sometimes we do get a little silly, I admit.
But that is what our craft is about - some hands on stuff, but lots of friendships and giggles too.

Think about it.  You can always ask either me or Tracy if you have any questions at all !!!

Papercraft Star 54

Summer beaches are the theme this week at Papercraft Star !!  Here is our inspirational photo...

Now, never ever do Oregon summer beaches look like this.  Never.  Gray, cloudy, and rarely, a sparkly wave, with some sort of deep blue, but not turquoise.

So, not having ever been to a tropical beach (ok ok I did see a Florida beach when I was at Cape Kennedy, but I didn't get as far as the water) I had to imagine a blue ocean.

Stop in at Papercraft Star this week - I know you have a turquoise ocean in your past you can share !!

Don't forget our DT Call begins today.  Hope to see you enter !!

Here is mine:

Hope you will play along with us at Papercraft Star !!

AND in just a couple of weeks we do have a Design Team call coming up, along with some more announcements.  We have been so busy at Papercraft Star while things are transitioning - and we hope you will enjoy what we have new !!

Card Patterns 123

♥♥♥♥♥♥

Card Patterns has this wonderful sketch for us this week.  I believe I could have made my card in about 5 minutes, but for all the cutting and matting !  So, it really took about 10.  Unheard of in my household.

This was my first Asian card.  The paper is all from The House Across the Bay - the patterned one is actually a digital image of real Asian silk.

Guess who came to visit me today ...

How cute is that little golf bag.  All his clubs were made by the professional club makers at Fiddlers Green here in Eugene.

CCCB 64

This week City Crafter is hosting a bird/birdcage challenge !

It took me a little while to sort through my hundreds of birds, images, papers, stamps.  You know what I mean, don't deny it.  You have them too.

I don't often go for the "cute" stuff, but I do love cute birds.  Instead I end up with something from a bird book !  Hmmm.

Stop over at CCCB - what a nice bunch of ladies !

Papercraft Star 52

♥♥♥♥♥♥

Papercraft Star opens its 52nd challenge today with this photo as our inspiration.

Now, this reminds me of the sofas we had in our common area in our dorms when I was in college, in the middle ages.  The boys would have to wait here for us to descend the stairs in our skirts and twin sets, out for the evening, but back by curfew, 11:00.  Can you even imagine ...

We were in the last vestiges of the old world, and on the brink of a new one.

An old Chinese proverb says something like "may you live in interesting times."  The year I met Dom, 1968, was the most tumultuous of all those 1960 years - the death of Martin Luther King, and of Robert Kennedy, the Democratic convention with its massive uprising in the streets, riots all over the country.  Not to mention a terrible war, the older people believing it was just, the younger knowing it wasn't.  Yes, most interesting times.

But of course, we really want to remember the sweetness of it all too - a true belief we could find peace, people reaching out to one another, the thrill of the possibilities.  Today we benefit from that innocent time - greener living, less trash, better knowledge of the world around us, even community farms.

Well, enough of all my wanderings ....
