City Crafter 76

♥♥♥♥♥

City Crafter has us lifting something from this card ...

Cute, huh...

Well of course the simple thing is to use the bird cage.  Yeh, I didn't complicate this up too much, lol.  Though you could never tell from looking at this, I had a major mojo breakdown right in the middle of it, and could not finish it.  Struggle struggle stuggle, after I just told Tracy I hardly ever have that happen to me any more, lol.

Why was this soooooooooo hard ??   Here is a little trick I learned though - I used white thread on it, but daubed some distress ink over it, now it is the right color purple !  The Coredinations paper has a purple core.

Design Paper - My Mind's Eye

Papercraft Star 64

♥♥♥♥

The theme this week at Papercraft Star is Lace !

When I chose this picture I had visions of something beautiful and vintage, a little aged and very loved.

Sooooooo, how is it that I ended up with something Halloween ??  Is it because my birthday passed a couple of weeks ago, and now I am realizing I really don't have enough time left alive to use up all that Halloween stuff ?????

Hmmmmmmm.....

You can barely see the little raggedy tulle flower in the lace.  Just a bunch of circles punched out, and they scared themselves into a weird little spider web flower.  Spencer cranked out the cardstock through the Cuttlebug for me.  The lace is true vintage, still on an old piece of cardboard, found at a thrift shop.  The gray grunge paper from theHouseAcrosstheBay etsy shop is perfect for Halloween !

Fall Colors

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

This is that wonderful time of year - not much rain, not much heat, just that bitty morning chill, and the promise of pumpkin pie, apple cider and maybe even some turkey and some shopping !!

The leaves are just barely changing, but football is in the air, and I do mean that literally.  Living less than a mile (crow flies) from the loudest football stadium in the country means no Saturday napping for me !!  But, I am looking forward to a farm visit to pick up our fall decor items, and some grillin' vegetables.

This fall card is heading off to some challenges at :

Design Paper - Bo Bunny

CCCB 75

City Crafter's Challenge this week is MUSIC !

One reason I became inclined to join in the fun of paper crafting was because I had seen some cards with music on them.  I thought that musical paper was just so romantic and beautiful, soft, and vintage.  As if no one writes music any more, how goofy is that !

When I was younger I took some music theory classes, and have loved all sorts of music all my life.  Def Leppard to Yo Yo Ma, Motown, Warren Zevon, Chris Brown, love em all.

Spencer is quite a music lover himself.  He has been able to identify musical instruments he hears from at least 2 years old, clarinet, tuba, trombone.  Unfortunately, while he sings with great enthusiasm, it is not done particularly well.  Sort of like most of us !

Well, enuff said - here is my card ....

Cardstock - Bazzill
Design Paper - Creative Imaginations, K & Co, Bo Bunny, memoriesinthemaking
Alpha stickers - Making Memories
Brads - Karen Foster
Jewelry cording

Card Patterns 131

♥♥♥♥♥♥

Here is the sketch for Card Patterns this week !

I "mirrored" mine so that my little mummy wouldn't look as if he was walking off the card !  The most fun thing about Halloween is that it is kinda silly, and yet we pretend it is kinda spooky too.  Even 3 year old Spencer knows it is all pretend scary !  I also did a Halloween card because, well, let's face it, I buy everything I see, and I will never, in this life-time, use up all my Halloween "stuff."

The mummy is embossed, and filled with white Gelly Roll Pen. (Isn't that such a darling stamp !!)   The flowers are cheapo put-together things, covered in distress ink.

Cardstock - American Crafts, Recollections
Design Paper - My Mind's Eye, DCWV
Scalloped brads - Recollections
Punch - Martha Stewart
Flowers - Michael's $1 bin (inked)
Ink - Ranger distress, Gelly Roll
Bling - Michael's $1 bin

Papercraft Star 61

 ♥♥♥♥♥♥

Today Papercraft Star 61 opens - with a color challenge !

For those of us who are Americans, we cannot get past this time of year without thinking of our flag.  It is the 10th anniversary of a most terrible day for us all, coming up on 9/11.

When I was a small girl growing up in Vancouver British Columbia, there were still many many disabled veterans alive from WW 1.  In November they would be in the streets selling paper poppies for a couple of cents, and everyone wore one, to remind us of our servicemen and women who died protecting us.

This time we had no war, our losses weren't sad, vague ones, we saw innocents dying, or about to die for absolutely nothing.

When I made this card I had had it in my mind for a very long time - the poppies will always mean remembrance to me.  In France during WW 1, a terrible loss of life in Flanders Fields, where poppies grew up around the graves.
