Papercraft Star 146 - Beauty

♥♥♥♥♥

This week the theme at Papercraft Star
was chosen by Deanne ...

Beauty

What a gorgeous picture !!

my card ...

Well, this may look just a little odd for this challenge ....

But, as Deanne says, Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder ...

I made this thinking about my daughter, Brie, when she was about 3 years old.  Right out of our living room window was a large "hill", or "mountain" as mid westerners would think.  It had a hiking trail to the top, and it was not an easy climb.  One day we went with her grandpa and grandma to climb it, and I really had my doubts Brie could do it.  BUT, not only did she do it, but she ran back and forth, back and forth, and actually probably took that hike about 3 or 4 times.  One time she stopped to look at some teeny little flowers and said to me ...

"I don't know why God calls them weeds.  They are so beautiful !"

and that is truly what IS beautiful.

Come and play with us this week, that photo is so striking !!

TKJ 122 - Celebrations

♥♥♥♥♥

The Kraft Journal's theme this week is ...

Celebrations !!

This week I did a graduation card for a guy, using the Celebrations theme.  I began with a Kraft Note Card, and adhered a piece Kraft and Black Cardstock to the top.  I added three banners of Washi Tape, adhered to some Kraft Cardstock, and black paper.  The sentiment was stamped on a Memo Book Sticker, and mounted on more black and Kraft CardstockEarthy Hemp Cord was wrapped around the card, and bowed atop a button.  I completed the inside with more Washi Tape.  This was a very easy card to make for a man, and very quick !!

TKJ 121 - Red, White or Blue

♥♥♥♥♥

Red, white or blue is our theme this week at
The Kraft Journal !

I chose red for my color for the red, white OR blue challenge this week.  I began with a Kraft Lunchbox Note Card, and adhered some design paper.    I added Black & White Script Washi tape across the top, and a button tied with Earthy Hemp CordC-Flute Corrugated Kraft Paper formed the base of the sentiment portion, with a Town Square Journaling Card and "a magical possibility" from the Chitchat Word Stickers.  Atop is a "real life" Lille Tag, threaded with a piece of Ruler Ribbon.

Hope you find time this week to join us for this fun challenge !!

An update on my husband's surgery ...  He is out of ICU, and apparently doing quite well.  Tho' I thought he looked awful, my nurse Sister-in-Law, Annette, said she thought he looked great.  He is unable to eat or drink, and is desperate for a big tall glass of ice water, but that will come !

Papercraft Star 144 - Sun

♥♥♥♥♥♥

Hi Everyone !  Today at Papercraft Star Allisa has chosen our weekly theme ...

Let the sun shine !

Ah, the title of a song from Hair, a scandalous Broadway musical from the hippy years.

And my card this week ...

A Beatles song from the same time period.

Although I am writing this far in advance, today, 5/8 my husband is having his esophagus removed.  Some of you may remember he suffers from the rare disease, Achalasia.  He will be in the hospital for a couple of weeks, far away from home.  Your prayers, thoughts, and if you are from Eugene Oregon, your good karma, are much appreciated.

TKJ 120 - Just for her !

♥♥♥♥♥

This week The Kraft Journal features

Just 4 her !

One of my favorite groups is the Beatles, and I use their songs a lot when I create my cards.  This card began as a Lunch Bag Kraft Note Card.  I punched and adhered some design paper, and added the Black Burlap ribbon.  The tag with sentiment is from the Affirmations Tag Kit.  A Graphic 45 tag was affixed  with a Custom Fastener, atop some Film Strip Ribbon, echoing the film on the tag.  A flower and some Natural Hemp cord complete the outside.  Inside I added another design paper, and a page from the Memo Book.

Papercraft Star 143 - Lace & Polka Dots

♥♥♥♥♥

I make most of the challenges at Papercraft Star, and pick out the pictures.  I always have something in my head about where I will take that challenge - and I have never ever ever been right !  Always go in a different directions, cause that is where my fingers go without my brain.

This week, at Papercraft Star, our theme is Lace and Polka Dots.

Our inspirational picture ...

This looks so fresh and I can almost smell the lilacs coming through the open window.

But, here is mine, nothing like that at all ...

How does this happen to me so often ??

TKJ 118 - Recycle/Reuse

♥♥♥♥♥

The Kraft Journal's theme this week is ...

Recycle/Reuse !!

I have a large bag filled with packaging, hoping for a recycle/reuse challenge, just like today ! I began with my usual Kraft Blank Note Card.  I added some design paper, and a large sentiment tag. I used some packaging from an embossing folder, and embossed it. I fussy cut the edges, and adhered it to the front of the card with eyelets.  Through the eyelets I threaded some blue Brights Hemp Cord, and a White x-small tag stamped with hugs and kisses !  I would like to remind you of the supplies available at Kraft Outlet - two of which I used on this card, the Ink Blending tool, and the Bone Folding tool.

Papercraft Star 141 - Watch/clock

♥♥♥♥♥

I chose the theme this week at Papercraft Star,
clocks or watches
so I could make a masculine type card, or
maybe steampunk.

Instead, I ended up with a very feminine look, and not one bit like I had thought.  I never ever know how I start in one place, and end up somewhere else completely !

My card ...

More inside

The most inside

In retrospect, I should have done something with that little clock, like mount it on something, but it was too late, as it was already glued down.

TKJ 117 - Clean & Simple

♥♥♥♥♥

The Kraft Journal, this week, is all about
Clean and Simple !

Jan Del Bone
I think these challenges are the hardest of all to conceptualize.  It is always so tempting to want to add more and more !  This week I began with a Kraft Blank Note Card, and adhered some design paper to it.  The bird image was bordered by some Kraft card stock, and wrapped with Earthy hemp cord, pulled through a button and into a bow.  The sentiment is from the Pretoria Fortunes Rubbing.

Could this be any easier ??

I love stamps, but alas, I just don't use them enough...

I chose to make a tag this week just 'cuz.

The background and bottom layer is a tissue piece from an old Butterick pattern.

TKJ 116 - Tag, You're It !

♥♥♥♥♥

I think I may be actually squealing ...
This week at The Kraft Journal our theme is
Tag You're It !

I love making tags, so this week's challenge, Tag You're It ! fits right into my favorite pastime.  I really challenged myself with my first two mixed media tags, the sentiments really do reflect my thoughts !!  From the Kraft Outlet, I used a background of Vintage Reproduction Sears Catalog Pages, adhered to a Large Manila Shipping Tag.  I added two General Store Postage Stamp Stickers to further the "store" theme, added a charm and a bead, and threaded the eyelets with Natural Hemp Cord.  The tag has been heavily stamped, inked, painted, and whatever !

The second tag also has a base of a Large Manila Shipping Tag and Vintage Dictionary Pages were torn and adhered to it.  Also adhered was a Journal Ticket and a Custom Fastener.  Some beads and a heart clip were attached, and some Earthy Hemp Cord laced through the pink eyelets.  This tag was also heavily inked, stamped, and otherwise "treated" to the mixed media methods.

These were so much fun to make, but really time consuming.  Also, I found that I wanted to add more and more, which seems to me to be right in tune with mixed media efforts.  Expect a lot more of these from me.
