Wednesday at TKJ

♥♥♥♥♥

Hi !  Jan here today with a Wednesday Special.

I was antique shopping with my husband, and came upon a cute display with kraft and manila tags for sale, $3 a piece.  The only thing on them was one wee little stamp.  Yikes !  Sticker shock for sure.  Only a couple of days later I saw a kit/display in the current issue of Somerset Living ...  and I combined the two ideas, and this is what I came up with.

I am seeing this as a hands-on piece of art.  I didn't do much to the cute things I already had (yes, hidden in drawers and closets,) I just combined them into this grouping.  In the back, which you can't see well, are blue and cream colored speckled eggs, and a collection of keys.  I am hoping my friends will pull this onto their laps, and find a "treasure."

Here are some postcards, and bingo cards, stamped and distressed.  I punched out the kraft ovals, hand wrote on them, and attached them with some TH clips.  They are meant to be opened, unclipped, or whatever.

I took this right off of a shelf in my craft room.  The glitter is in little teeny vials.

I covered manila tags with washi tape, and wrapped ribbon, lace or fiber around each one.  I nestled these into a heart shaped doily, and placed them in the box.

I included a little kraft book, with lined pages, so my friends could send me "secret" messages.

There are 15 tags here - some are from the Kraft Outlet, some are trying out a new technique or stamp, and some just never found a home.  I have used all sorts of things for tags, but mostly I love using my left over paper.  I attached these (only a small portion of what I have) on a chain, added a couple of TH goodies, and some washers in between.  It was great that they all found this home, and aren't hiding away somewhere.  Maybe some will come off, maybe some new ones will be added.

I ended up pretty happy with this little collection !  I can see changing it out from time to time, so it will always be fluid art.  I buy so many cool and wonderful things - it was time to put them out where someone else could enjoy them too !

Hope you enjoyed my new treasure box !!

TKJ 130 - Tie it on

♥♥♥♥♥

The Kraft Journal's challenge this week is

Tie It On

If the theme is "Tie It On", I am going to use a Kraft Outlet tag for sure ! I began this card with a Buff Ivory Note Card, punching one side.  I punched both sides of some Half Size Blackboard Stock Paper, and adhered it to the note card.  Atop this, I glued some design paper.  A Black Chevron Twill Ribbon was tied around the whole card, with a home made hat pin inserted into the knot.  A Small Manila Tag was heavily inked, with a Pretoria Fortunes sentiment, and two flairs  rubbed onto the tag.  The tag was attached with Earthy Hemp Cord.  Completing the card, Washi tape was added to the inside left.

Spencer

♥♥♥♥♥

Spencer spent last Saturday at the zoo up in Portland.
Here is my favorite picture ...

30 years ago an American coffee table book came out, called something like A Day in the Life, and it spawned books from other countries.

Our local newspaper is celebrating that anniversary with a newspaper feature in Sunday's paper that will cover a day in the life of Lane County.

As you might imagine, naturally, Spencer was in the right place at the right time, and will appear in that feature.   We don't know yet which of the photos they will use, but here are a couple they forwarded to us.

Maybe you have gotten an idea of what a character this little rascal is.

He sure is a lot of fun.

TKJ 129 - Pretty Papers !

♥♥♥♥♥

This week at The Kraft Journal
our challenge is
Pretty Papers !!

I have so much pretty paper it could sink small watercraft.
I looked at every bit of it too.  I finally decided to put my hand in the scrap paper and the first three that kinda matched were going to be it !  Tough challenge for me, and I bet for a lot of other people too.  But it was great fun looking at everything, and finding all that paper I had forgotten about.  I promise, after today, no more paper !!!

So here is the cute tag (or maybe tags!) ...

I began the tag using a Large Manila Shipping tag.  I adhered some pretty paper, and added two pockets, finishing it with stitching around the edges, and some ink.  To the front I added a painted, sanded embellishment, some fiber around the body, and fiber atop the tag.

I added two more Small Manila Shipping Tags for the pockets. I first inked them, and then added phrases from Chit Chat Word Stickers and rub on flairs from Pretoria Fortunes.  I used the string that came with the tags, inking them and then adding small heart charms.  (If you are making your own tags, Kraft Outlet has string for them !  To color them, just drag them over an ink pad.)  I popped these back into the pockets for a tag for a gift.

Other Supplies:
Pretty paper - K & Co, Kaisercraft (I think)
Embellishment - Michaels bin

Papercraft Star 152

has a great travel photo this week ...

This screams old fashioned travel to me, how about you ?

I took several train trips from Seattle to Minneapolis when I was a teenager.
It all sounds so glorious, but I was completely bored.
Long long days and nights.

This fall I am going to Walt Disney World for two whole weeks.
I think I will fly !!

TKJ 128 - Brides or Babies

♥♥♥♥♥♥

This week at
our theme is
Brides or Babies !

I chose a bridal gift card as my project this week.  I began with an envelope from the Buff Ivory Notecards.  The envelope was sealed, set on end, and the top cut off in order to form a pocket. I embossed the envelope, and then die cut a lacy sentiment from one of the Buffy Ivory Notecards.  This was adhered to the front, along with some bling.

Inside I attached a Glassine Bag to some metal looking cardstock, and embossed them together. I enclosed a gift card, along with some heart confetti.  I punched a hole in the tag, and threaded some lace through it, finishing it off with a bling slide.  The entire card was pretty simple !

The way it's always been

♥♥♥♥♥

Sent Dom back to work last week, pointed his car in the general direction and said "go forth and earn money"
and he did.
For those of you who have followed his difficult medical journey, I think we are close to a happy, healthy finish !
Much thanks to you for your wishes.

Today's post is going to Mojo Monday !

an up close of the little bird

The bird has a silver finish.

Well Spencer won the big anticipated race between him and his aunt Nettie.
He was presented with this trophy.
