PDCC 53

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

It has been a while since I played at the Play Date Cafe, but it is always fun to snoop around there, and check out the variations on the very limited color palette.

I don't know what the technique is called, where you cut out pieces and pop them up, the pop up technique maybe ?? lol I am so sorry it is hard to see with the 2D photo, but it sure looks fabulous in real life. The color choices are black/white/ and splash of burgundy, a color I see I do not have in such abundance here in my stash (junk).

I made a hat pin with an old rose button to go with it.

Not an easy week for me as last Sunday we were told my dad had only hours to live, but he is still with us. All I really want to do is sleep, but I know it is better to get my body moving and doing.

Hope you like the card today, a little different for me, isn't it. ....

Papercraft Star 19

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Isn't this one gorgeous photo as our inspiration this week at Papercraft Star - wow ! Beth and Kristina always choose the very best photos I think for our challenges, I am always very excited to get going as soon as I see them.

I chose to go simpler this week, mostly because the smooth textures of the fruit, and the paper leaves left me with a classic feel. In fact, looking at this photo again I see so much in it, I just may use it as an inspiration again. Look at the reflection of the silver, and the little tea light, the spring in the leaf stems - all beautiful.

Here is my contribution this week ! I think my main feeling here was the pattern on the plates, the smooth textures and of course, those fall colors that aren't traditional at all, but boy, they sure did make me think fall !!

I have been shouting the praises of our October sponsor, Art Cult - isn't that tag paper absolutely incredible. Don't miss stopping at this little shop, oh my goodness, I am such a big fan.
My Pay Pal account says so ....

Link up your submissions starting NOW, until noon Saturday. I know you will find something in that photo that will produce an amazing card or layout for you !!

And don't forget our DT call at Papercraft Star - we might be looking for YOU. The call ends on 11/5, so be sure to get your projects in there !!!

365 Cards - Pick 3

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

365 Cards
today has a Pick 3 challenge - 3 patterns, 3 colors, 3 embellies.

I chose black, green and red, and a flower, some fiber, and bling. Love that fiber, it is so holiday !

Today is a significant day here in Eugene Oregon, as our Ducks are meeting UCLA tonight, and it may be the first and only game the Ducks ever play as #1 in the country. Brie and Jason will be in the crowd, as they are celebrating Jason's birthday, and our little funny guy will be here watching the game with us.

JUGS 55

♥♥♥♥♥♥

I cannot remember the last time I posted twice in a day - and I see also that I haven't entered the JUGS challenge in about 5 or 6 months either.

The JUGS challenge is a color one - black, kraft and cream. I could do a whole lot of cards in this color combo - it is really one of my favorites. Oh heck, I say that all the time, don't I ...

Another Spencer story ??

I was watching him one afternoon while Dom was gone... When Dom made some noises at the door I said to Spencer
"oh I wonder who that could be !"
He stuck out his thumb backwards and said
"that guy??"

Only a couple more weeks of him being two, and he is turning into a little man. He has found the joys of singing, only he cannot carry a tune, doesn't know the words, and sings the same phrase for 30 minutes at a time. What a goof ...

This week at City Crafter's we are visiting Rome !

I have always thought this would be a magnificent city to visit.

Being as I am married to a man whose grandparents came from Rome, I feel pretty connected. I try to fulfill a couple old Italian traditions still, mostly at the holidays.

My father-in-law always made his own wine. That was some potent stuff - and he would fill up old apple cider bottles we had saved. That is why I chose to do a purple card - a toast to that old wine... and I guess a toast too, to him. He was a wonderfully fun man, who cared about us all very much, and I will miss him for the rest of my life.

CCCB 26

♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥

First, and most importantly, I want to thank City Crafter Challenge for awarding me their top prize last week !!! Wow, I have wanted to win that challenge for a long time, and I guess I made no bones about it either, lol.

This week their challenge is "take flight", and some wings were in order. There is something about little red birds at Christmas that I think is so wonderful ! AND, since the sun was shining, I decided to leave it in the picture, so rare here in Oregon and about to become completely a memory. I know I mention it a lot, but I do dearly love the rain.

Ok, here is one more Spencer story...

Spencer and Brie were snuggling on the couch, and Brie fell asleep. Spencer got up to use the little potty, and when he was done, he picked up the bowl, brought it into the living room, set it down on Brie's chest, then shook her awake "mama mama wake up!" I will leave the end of this story to your own imagination.

Have a wonderful weekend !!

Papercraft Star 17

Welcome to Papercraft Star, Challenge 17!

This week we have a challenge photo, from Martha Stewart Living. I thought the colors and decor looked very retro...

I stuck with the round, and the classic orange, and I thought it was a lot of fun to do something I was not comfortable with AT ALL !! And as is often said, THAT IS WHAT A CHALLENGE IS ALL ABOUT !!

Now, here is a story on me ! A few years ago I picked up a magazine that had a blurb on the cover that read :

"Everything you wanted to know about Smashing Pumpkins"

Yup, I had to buy it because I only knew that smashing pumpkins ruined a good jack o' lantern. I think that was the year I was living under a rock. Or maybe a pumpkin. At any rate, I am much hipper today...

Papercraft Star Message Board
is open 24/7 !!

Link up your post, between now and Saturday noon, then vote until Monday night at midnight.

CCCB 25

♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥

When I first started making cards, about ten months
ago, I found this incredible paper. I looked at it so much the cover disintegrated from the book. I couldn't bring myself to use it because I knew I couldn't do it justice quite yet. I have no idea what kind of paper it is, not one, if you do, would you leave me a comment ?

City Crafter this week has a simple "holiday" challenge. I may not be done with this particular challenge just yet, as I have some other ideas !!

I went in to my dentist on Monday for a new crown, but after he was finished he told me I needed a root canal on that tooth. Went in for the root canal, but half way through a different guy told me it wasn't going to be saved, and I needed it pulled. Can't get that done for another ten days or so, argh .... So, I have been a little out of things here !!

Taught my first lss class last week. Wow, was that ever fun !! But I realized how much I miss teaching school (college) and that was kinda sad....

This was a fun and easy card to make. The Noel stamp is so pretty I think. Hope you enjoyed it !

Papercraft Star 16

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Papercraft Star
17 opens today !!

Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps. Our first place winner will be gifted with 7, yup 7 digi stamps!!! How generous is that.

I cannot color worth a darn, so I had to use paper piecing on this cute violet stamp ! I only had a little teeny bit of fussy cutting to make it work.
There were so many cute flower stamps, it was hard to chose, but a violet blitz (oh, I am sure I meant BLISS) is just my thing.

Never enough purple for me !!! And now I think I have used up ALL the Bo Bunny Christmas paper I just bought - I love these brilliant colors.

So, be sure to link up your submission this week at Papercraft Star - this challenge is open until Saturday noon, then we have some voting, and Tuesday morning the top vote getter is announced !! Be sure you stop at Bugaboo Stamps too - honestly, something for everyone.

We will be having a design team call at Papercraft Star beginning 10/15 - if you think you might be interested in applying. More to come on that later !!

Always prizes, always a message board, always something happening at Papercraft Star for sure!

Teeny Tiny Fine Print for those who read it, and I do mean you Rose cuz no one else does
Paper: Bazzill, Bo Bunny

365 Cards - 3 Ps

♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥

Today at 365 Cards is a 3 P challenge -

1) Polka dots
2) Paper Piercing
3) Pop Dots (I never need to be told twice to use pop dots, one of my favorites EVER)

And I made it from scraps ! Don't believe I have done that before ...

I was telling Beth and Kristina in our Papercraft Star meeting this morning that I don't think the economy can ever be blamed for less cards - we all have too much stash and scraps !

Spencer is back from his vacation in Myrtle Beach - he saw alligators, and got two holes in one at putt-putt. He told me on the phone he has a "new grandma now" --- *sigh*.

He will come to visit on Sunday. We bought him a new maze book with Mummies (which will generate the response "Just like on Scooby-Do!!!" from him) and we will probably just listen to him talk for hours. We sure did miss him, and glad they are home safely.

Have a wonderful weekend !!
