This week at City Crafter we have a "flowers and frills" challenge. The frill can be lace or a doily, and I chose some lace.
I suppose this isn't the standard flowers/frills kinda card one might expect, and you know, it did start off as a girly card, what happened ??
This was a load of fun to make. I tried some things I hadn't done before, and I actually took some things off of it because I had just kept going with the good times !!
Thanks to the ladies at CCCB last week for another Artist Spotlight !! I am always happy to get one of those, for certain.
I made my first ten minute card today - it took me two hours. It is hanging out waiting for the right time for its debut.

Papercraft Star 15
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
Papercraft Star's 15th challenge opens today !
Our challenge this week:
Well, I thought I should choose something I had actually seen, however there are only two on this list, the Northern Lights, and the Grand Canyon.
I love scenery, I am truly at peace and inspired by nature. But the Grand Canyon, maybe the only natural beauty that left me completely cold. I guess I don't have the imagination for it, or something. Saw it once, looked at it for ten minutes, was completely bored. I know I know I know, I must be some sort of nut case, but there it is.
So the Northern Lights it is ! Nontraditional Christmas colors - at least I was thinking of Christmas when I made "snow" and added "JOY", but I guess you can have joy seeing anything of beauty, right ? Fun fun card to make, hope you like it !
little teeny print necessary for design team projects:
Purple Bazzill paper
Ranger Inks for background "lights"
Recollections cardstock
Marshmallow Glimmer Mist
DCWV glitter cardstock
EK Success rub-on alpha
Freebie SCAL cut from svgcuts.com

365 Cards - Quite a Pair
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
Today's challenge at 365 Cards is a very simple one. One brad, one blossom in the middle of your card !
I stopped at Ben Franklin this morning, and they had just put out the new Bo Bunny Christmas paper. I could not resist these beautiful colors ! Aren't they wonderful !! Delicious.
We are missing our Spencer as he took his first plane ride, to Myrtle Beach, where he has been fishing (4 fish so far) and entertaining his other grandparents. Bet they are enjoying him so much ! He made his other grandma a card before he left, which consisted of cardstock run through a cuttlebug, (his favorite past-time) with two punched out circles (he also did himself) and a half a dispenser of tape to attach the circles. I hope she loved it, as I would have.

Papercraft Star 14
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
Papercraft Star Challenge 14 begins NOW !
This week was a recipe.
Make a Card
Base: 5.5 x 5.5
Mat: 5 x 5
Score Mat 5 times at 1/4 inch
3 Flowers from Die Cut or Punch
3 Buttons & Twine
Now, the one very very cool thing about these kinds of cards is that you don't have to plan a whole lot! You just follow the recipe, and what it is is what it is. Piece of cake.
I did use my SCAL to make the flowers, very easy. The paper is double sided, so I used both sides for the flowers. The wonderful bookplate is Tim Holtz, of course. I smooshed a bunch of blue stickles all over it, and it looks very cool and different.
Enter your submissions between now and noon on Saturday 9/25, and voting will conclude on Monday 9/27.
Here is the small print for you crazy small print readers (and I know who you are...)(Rose)
Paper : K & Co
Brown paper : Coredinations
Book Plate : Tim Holtz
Stickles (blue)
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (gold)
Jewelry beading cord
Teeny buttons I forget
Brads I dunno
Sentiment : old, unknown on vellum

City Crafter's challenge this week is a sketch. It doesn't seem like I do sketches all that often, and then I am so careful to completely follow them, which defeats the purpose of "inspiration". *sigh*
I see my friend Tracy won this challenge last week - yippee ! Tho' I must say I do envy her as she has won that challenge twice, and I have yet to win it - though 8 Artist Spotlights (Honorable Mention) are mine to brag on forever. I try my best to get something in there nearly every week - it is a good challenge, and if you haven't tried it yet, do ! Those ladies are lovely for sure.
A pretty simple card - some liquid gold, white faux stitching, and a handmade rose that Tracy (again!) taught me how to make. I always have a dozen or so on hand, so I can just dip into my stash when I need one.
AND, if you haven't ever stopped by Tracy's blog, here is the link. She always has the most beautiful and incredible flowers on her cards, and she makes most of them herself !! What a talent.

365 Cards - White Space
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
I love the white space challenges at 365 Cards. Usually I actually do them white, but today some cheerful colors instead. I turned the sketch on its side.
The paper is Fairy Flora from Prima. I think this is just about the prettiest flowered paper I have ever seen. I bought a 6" book probably the first day my Ben Franklin had it out. Today, about 10 or 12 days later there is not a sheet or book to be found.
Spencer is on his way to visit his other grandma in Myrtle Beach - his first plane ride. He is sure to have some stories when he returns ! Yesterday when he was visiting he and Dom came with me to Joann's shopping. He is pretty good about shopping, but he was really ready to leave. He tried the "when are we going home" about twenty times. His final attempt to get us to leave was "I really think I need to go home for a nap." Of course in the car when Dom asked him about taking a nap he was quite clear he had no intention of doing any such thing.

365 Cards - Harvest Fest
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
Hi ! I am back from vacation in Reno. Lost $60, sad huh, and it took us 5 days to do it. Dom said he is tired of eating.
I missed my paper, but did manage to get in a couple of lss down there, and some other craft stores.
And now, before I am off to do scoreboard at the last golf tournament of the year, I wanted to fit in just one teeny little card ...
365 Cards has a harvest fest day today - I don't think I managed to do 3 harvest colors, but they are FALL colors nonetheless. And two fall images, well a harvest moon, a cat and a witch are 3.
Gotta run - have a great day !!!

Papercraft Star 13
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
Welcome to Papercraft Star Challenge 13 !
Our sketch today lends itself more completely to a scrapbook layout, but since I don't do those, I have made a card based on part of that sketch.
I truly love the fall, but I think I say that a lot.
About the end of Sept. we will put up one of our Christmas trees, only of course, it is called a "fall tree". It is lit, and has lots of sparkley leaves and autumn things. Dom loves it - he always says it is his most favorite tree of the fall/Christmas season(s).
Hey we have plenty more trees with a Christmas theme...)
I cannot wait for fall to begin, so I made a little fall card today.
When I lived in the midwest I always hated fall, as winter was so brutal, and I knew it was about to sink in. But here, it just means a lot of cloudy and rainy days.
We only live a mile from Autzen Stadium, the home of the University of Oregon Ducks, and Saturdays we don't even have to have a radio on - we can hear the whole football game in our house. I think ESPN called it the loudest stadium in the country.
Just hearing that sound reminds me of all the years I spent crafting for Christmas, all through the fall.
Ok, enuff of my fall ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Entries close at Papercraft Star on Saturday 9/18, then voting begins, and continues until Monday 9/20.
Please join us to play ! And come back to vote. Stop awhile in our forums - lots of happenings there too.

City Crafter 21
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
This has just been a CRAZY week, and I haven't posted a thing. Even my Papercraft Star design team card was (pre) posted a month ago, and yet I have been working like mad. Where is it all ?
City Crafter Challenge is a manly man card this week. Red is one of the required colors, and I do have lots of red there, if you can see it. I always enjoy participating in this challenge, it is a good one.
I finished the inside because, WHOA, I am actually planning to give this to my son-in-law. I don't have a whole lot of finished cards, who does. I was trying to explain to someone that the photo is the important part, then the card disappears and maybe I will see it again, and maybe I won't. Ah, who could possibly understand that - except of course YOU do !!
Before it goes to Jason though (and my only complaint about him is that I have to answer the front door so often cause he sends me flowers ) it is taking a little trip down to my Ben Franklin down the street and entering a local contest. It had to be a birthday card, and I am hoping a manly man card will be unusual enough amongst them all.
Have a good one, and I will see you next week !

Papercraft Star 12
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
Wow, another incredible photo inspiration from Papercraft Star for the 12th Papercraft Star Challenge ! I can almost smell the coffee, how about you .... Today is the first day back to school here in Eugene, and I can imagine a lot of stay-at-home moms and dads kicking back just about now with a wonderful cuppa joe. Me, I like all those hot drinks, they are rejuvenating, aren't they !
The little blue tag is a freebie SCAL file from my favorite place, svgcuts.com.
I shadow cut the tag in black, you can barely see it, but I think it adds some real depth to the tag.
Fun card to make, I did toy a little with an optical illusion.

365 Cards - Divide and Conquer
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
365 Cards has a theme today of divide and conquer, with 6 different, well things, I guess. I have 7, since one is a title page though I think that still fits the parameters.
Today is Brie and Jason's 4th wedding anniversary, so I made an appropriate card for that ! Hard to believe it has been that long, and then again, not that long at all. They have been together since 1999, so I guess that really is a very very long time.
The card is only 3.75" inches high, and was very simple to make - it only looks complicated. But easy-peasy....
I had all day today to make this, as Dom was working, and on Oregon Duck home game days I am pretty much house-bound. We live so very close to the stadium, and it is very hard to get out and about with all the madness. Ducks won, 72-0 I think, not much of a game. But very very loud here, and I could hear the whole game with out a radio or tv.

365 Cards - Friday Favorites
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
A little awkward with the cup, argh. Now that I look at it, I think I should have used a gel gold pen, oh well.
But I did want to get in another card for 365 Cards this week, and today's theme is your "favorite", food or drink.
Darn, I should have used a martini ! Now I think of it ....
Well, this is either coffee or chai tea, both of which I am terribly fond of. Or maybe it is Irish Whiskey, tossed into a hot drink.
I think Spencer is watching, maybe, a little too much Scooby-Doo. Yesterday he said to his mom
"let's go rescue Dad from work."
Have a wonderful (long) weekend ! Don't forget all the coupons out there at the craft stores special sales !!!

365 Cards - Ad Inspired
♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
Although I did not do justice to the photo (and Hannah's inspirational card) at 365 Cards today, I am still very satisfied with this card. (Have I said lately I am a BIG Hannah fan ? Not often enough I think! )
First a shout out to Gloria - I used her go-to sketch, which I think is so classic and attractive. AND her altered Tim Holtz pins, which I totally copied. I always get so much from Gloria, hope I give a teeny bit back.
Visit both of these blogs - they are both amazing women with wonderful talents !!
What I thought were allergies turned out to be just a miserable icky summer cold. So back to bed for me....
When Brie was little and complaining about something I said to her "oh, stop your whining."
She replied "I am not whining. I am moaning." That is how I feel today, moaning...
I am thinking I will link you to some other of my blogger friends and inspirations here - there is always someone yet to meet out there !
