Ok, I nabbed this photo from Rilly, Papercraft Star's sponsor, on Pinterest. What a gorgeous shade of blue !!
I did my best, but this was about as close as I could get to the color ...
I know you can do better than I did - stop in at Papercraft Star this week to see our other designer ideas ! Jinny is our star this week, and she always makes something so wonderful !!
Do you ever have a challenge that you just MUST do ? Today's card was one of those for me ...
City Crafter has a ticket/transportation challenge today, and Ros has entitled it "Ticket to Ride". Most appropriate, as Ros is from Liverpool, the home of the Beatles. Oh, if I had known Ros when I was about 13 I would have been school-wide famous. If you did not live through that era, you cannot imagine the explosion those four boys caused across America. I have heard things compared to it since, but truthfully, nothing and no one has ever been like it.
Plus, I have been using parts of songs as my blog title for a little while now, as all my creativity goes into my cards/projects, and by the time I have to think up a title, well
my baby don't care ...
I made this into a "bulletin board", with things stuck hither and yon.
Everything is a hodge-podge of my junk. I had always thought the ticket to ride was for a train, but the Beatles arrived in America by plane, so I chose a photo of an old one, maybe a crop duster or from WWII.
Ros - my day was wonderful, thanks to you !!!
Card stock - Coredinations
Design Paper - Bo Bunny
Photo - Tim Holtz
Hotel stickers - Tim Holtz
Tickets - K & Co, ged, Tim Holtz, American crafts, and probably someone else too
Yup, it is still cold here, 59 degrees right now. Lucky people, all the rest of you, with summer on your back porch !! Not us, still bundled all up, and probably will be for another month.
Spencer was here today, and was he surprised when he looked at the peas he planted a couple of weeks ago !! Of course, after he planted them he had to keep an eye on them every hour to see if they had come up yet. Four year old boys are very loud, very rambunctious, a wee bit impatient, and hungry all the time. Whew.
Today's card goes out to three different challenges ...
I decided to make a lady's elegant bag, based on one I saw on the Cosmo Cricket blog ...
The lighting on this is just terrible, and it doesn't show what a cute bag it really is. It is all brown and blue, including the tulle. Instead of trimming off the top inch of the bag per the instructions, I folded and scored it instead. The tag is colored with Copics.
You can never have enough birthday cards and bags I have discovered !
Stop in at Papercraft Star this week - another easy peasy challenge for you !!
Now I thought this was going to be a piece of cake. Until I started looking through my paper. Yikes.
I have enough paper to stock a shop, and I bet most of you do too ! I went through everything. And I found 4 pieces, two of which were from my Christmas stash, one from my Halloween stash. So, sadly, you are witnessing the only other piece I could even find !
It did turn out ok, in the end. whew.
Sylvia is our star this week at Papercraft Star, so pop on over and see what she has happening. !! Maybe you have more checked paper than I do - if you do, join us this week !!
and many thanks to the ladies at Sarah Hurley for a top three last week !
(I think I had a good week ! lol)
I truly enjoyed making this card, though I spent 6 hours yesterday pushing it around on my craft table...
The tag went through quite a bit of glimmer mist, paint, embossing powder, and dragging behind me on the street as I was riding my bike ... I really beat it up.
And here is the recipe:
Card stock - Coordinations Design Paper - K & Co, Kaisercraft Tickets, photos, postcard stamp, ink, paint, film strip - all T. Holtz Flowers and Pearls- Recollections Jewelry cording, brads, button - stash Pink ribbon - hand dyed Hug Snug
Another challenge opens at Papercraft Star today - the weeks are going by faster and faster !!
This week our theme is "use a stamp", and here is the photo ...
I chose the window from this photo as my focus for my card.
Our whole design team is just crazy about this page of digitals, all Victorian women. And some of us have used that page 4 or 5 times already !
The little wooden frame is truly that, a wooden frame. I was interested in miniatures for a time a while back, and made several doll houses. I found about 5 window frames last week while I was scrounging about, here and there, and figured, may as well use them here.
Stop by and join us at Papercraft Star this week ! Easy peasy challenge, just a wee stamp will do it !
This is a little softer vision. I have posted a lot of cards the past couple of weeks, and I wish now that I had entered this challenge a little earlier, just to do the colors justice !
This is a tag set upon a card. I have tried to get a better picture, but the sun is just so bright ! *sigh*
Anyway, the tag is colored with distress ink, and covered with a glimmer mist. The netting behind the flower is actually from a bag that contained shower scrubbies. It has a very interesting texture, and I am going to try to do more with that.
I am sorry I cannot tell you much about the card's ingredients - just as in my first post of the day, many things are recycled, or found in my scrap bin.
Card stock - Recollections Design Paper - Bo Bunny, and ? Flowers & Bling - Recollections Ribbon - s*e*i Folder - Darisa Ribbon, lace, jewelry cording - stash
As I said, a lot of little pieces from a left-over bin under my crafting table.
The heart is a flimsy tin piece that came attached to a gift basket from Bath & Body Works. I have had this for more than 10 years, maybe even 20 ? Used it in a couple other projects, and now it will end its life as a card for someone special. Yes, a long and happy life - her brothers and sisters perished long long ago.
I smeared some paint on the heart, and wiped it away, did a little sanding on it, and it turned out pretty close to what I had wanted ... Surprise surprise !
Today is one of those odd days - some wind, some rain, kind of pretending it is spring, yup. Spencer is spending the day with me. As I finished my card he was watching Scooby-Doo on his Pop's computer. I am wearing a crown, he has hair cut through with baby sweat from his nap, curling up in the middle as if on purpose.
I have probably mentioned before that I make a hand drawn copy of the sketch I am using, and post it in my sketch book, so I can use it later. BUT, the first time I use the sketch I do it from memory. That would explain how this card LOOKS so different from the sketch, but it does have all the elements !
Tulips are my favorite flower. Last fall Dom moved around some bulbs, and put some new ones in, and I have a gorgeous flower bed this spring ! And, oddly, we have some black black tall tulips, and also planted some cascading black petunias, they would be amazing in a monochromatic setting.
I had really thought I would do some tulip thing this week, but look what I ended up with !!
My journey is always a surprising one, and I never ever know how I end up with my final result. It all just happens...
The image is a free one found on Pinterest, colored with Copics. The tag is just a standard tag, a doodle added in black, with a white Gelly roll pen, and a gold Gelly roll pen accenting the doodle. The inside of the tag has been covered in Ranger distress ink, with some white Ranger stain over the top. It was then sprayed with Tattered Angels glimmer mist for a bright and beautiful finish. I added a ribbon, bakers twine and a button from my stash. Very easy tag, probably less than an hour start to finish.
I will probably let Spencer add this to his gift for his mom this year. Right now Brie is in Victoria BC playing some amateur golf with the rest of the Oregon team, enjoying the harbor view from their incredible hotel. They will play 3 competitive rounds with other state teams from the Pacific Northwest, fielding a team of 8 men, 2 senior women, and 2 mid-amateur women. I always get a butterfly in my tummy when she is gone, competing.
Here is a video from last year ...
