TKJ 24 - Guest Designer

♥♥♥♥♥♥

This week I am the guest designer over at the Kraft Journal. One very cool thing about this challenge site is that they use Kraft and grungy type things from the Kraft Outlet.

The challenge this week is WELCOME SUMMER - and I always think of all the books I plan to read during the summer, and all the memories I have of books from the past. My dad took us to the library every week, and packed a giant suitcase with the books we were returning. I believe he presented a very very strange picture lugging that baby blue thing to the library each week.

I am not the frequent library visitor I was, even last year, as I now own a Kindle. I love my Kindle, but the library will always be a destination for me.

The Wizard of Oz book is actually some corrugated cardboard bound with masking tape (covered with ink) and a digi book cover image from The House Across the Bay.

Hope my card told YOU a story. I was very happy making it.

Library card, card holder, and fiber - The Kraft Outlet
Digital image on the Wizard book - The House Across the Bay
Kraft Cardstock - Recollections
Library card design paper - Bo Bunny
Glasses rub on - Michaels $1 bin
Ink and paint - Ranger
Word Rub ons - Close to my heart
Ticket and A sticker - Tim Holtz
Micron pen
Brads & staples - stash

  1. Jan, thank you so much for being our Guest Designer at The Kraft Journal this week. This project does tell a story... a wonderful story of reading and I think that making that little Wizard of Oz book was so clever too... I love the layers you used on this card and how everything is in keeping with your theme... fabulous work! (By the way, my daughter loves her Kindle too...and I love my Nook...but nothing beats going to the library does it?!!) :-)

  2. Hi Jan! What a wonderful project this is! I, too, love to read, so I am quite smitten with your idea here. Love the story of your dad and his suitcase. :) My mom used to take us to the library once a week, too, and to this day, I love libraries. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talents with us this week at The Kraft Journal.

  3. This is SOOO Jan! Your classic pocket with a great library card tag. Oh Yeah! I haven't read anything in so long, but I checked out a few books from the library today and plan to do a little relaxing reading. Ahhh sounds like heaven to me. Fabulous project for your KJ guest spot!

  4. I absolutely love this!! Such a fantastic design! It reminds me of the movie made (quite a few years ago) about the author of "The Wizard of Oz"(He came up with the name from the library card catalog)
